We’re excited to introduce a new program: the DSAP Family Grant!
This initiative will provide small grants to help ease the financial burden for families and support our loved ones with Down syndrome.
Individuals with Down syndrome, or families who have a child with Down syndrome who live in the Greater Pittsburgh Region can apply.
The maximum grant award is $250.
Applications will be accepted from May 1st - May 15th.
We will open another grant cycle in the fall.
Funds can only be paid directly to a third party organization and cannot be paid as a reimbursement. Funds will be paid out once approved by the end on May.
Grant funds must be used for programming, educational opportunities, as well as medical and safety needs for the overall well-being for individuals with Down syndrome.
Some examples include, but are not limited to, the following:
PALS Camp
Miracle League
Adaptive Fitness
Job Training
Dance Team
Cooking Classes
Music Lessons
Horseback Riding
AngelSense
Registration expense for NDSC Convention or BDSA Family Reunion
Families who receive the benefit must wait 12 months to apply again. If you apply and are not selected, you may apply in the next cycle.
Please note that while your project may align with DSAP’s funding guidelines, resources are limited and we are unable to support every application. We truly value the effort behind each submission and recognize the merit in all proposals. If your application is not selected this time, we strongly encourage you to apply again!
Questions:
Will I have to demonstrate financial need? No.
Can the grant go directly to an individual?
No, there are no direct donations or grants to individuals.
In addition, grants will not be awarded to pay political campaigns and legislative lobbying efforts, building or capital campaigns, or projects that exclusively serve religious purposes.
Who decides which applicants are awarded grants?
The board of DSAP will approve a 3-member grants committee consisting of a program committee member, a community member and another designated member. The Executive Director of DSAP will join the committee as a non-voting member.
