Position Title: Volunteer Board Director

The Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh (DSAP) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Our mission is to support, connect, educate, and inspire individuals with Down syndrome across the lifespan in the Greater Pittsburgh Region. We provide a range of programs and services to promote inclusion, education, and awareness within our community.
Position Overview:
DSAP is seeking a passionate and committed individual to join our Board of Directors as a Volunteer Board Director. As a key leader within our organization, the Board Director will play a crucial role in guiding our mission, shaping our strategies, and ensuring the effective governance and sustainability of our nonprofit.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and governance oversight to the organization.
- Actively participate in board meetings and committee meetings, bringing your expertise and insights to the table.
- Collaborate with fellow board members, staff, and volunteers to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Support fundraising and development efforts to ensure financial sustainability.
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization, promoting our mission within the community.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and policies affecting individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
Qualifications:
- Passion for our mission and a commitment to enriching the lives of individuals with Down syndrome.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or board capacity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to commit time and effort to fulfill board responsibilities, including volunteering with DSAP programs and events, as well as participating in board activities.
Time Commitment:
- The Board Director position is a volunteer role with a commitment of approximately four hours per month, including board and committee meetings.
- The initial term for this position is two years, with the possibility of renewal.
