In the process of Future Planning for Individuals with Disabilities, an important area of consideration and concern is housing. What are the housing resources available for individuals with disabilities, particularly those with limited incomes, and where can one begin the process of trying to locate housing that is accessible and affordable?

This webinar, presented by Achieva, will provide basic information about the types of housing available in Allegheny County and the various programs that are designed to support the housing needs of individuals and families. This includes programs such as the Section 8 program and rental assistance programs, as well as homeless assistance programs. Individuals with disabilities may be looking for independent housing, or they may be homeless, or at risk of homelessness. The Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Community Services Department provides referrals and information regarding all types of housing and housing programs available to support the housing needs of at risk populations, including individuals with disabilities. Mr. Keenan and Ms. Harris will provide an overview of the resources available in Allegheny County. Sally Ellwein of the United Way of SW PA will provide an overview United Way PA 211 SW, as a source of referrals and information regarding various housing resources and supportive services.
